The floating end is designed to be detachable so that the tube bundle can be easily inserted or removed, thus providing convenience for maintenance and cleaning. This form of type is especially suitable for shell and tube of which temperature stress is large, and the shell side and tube side to be cleaned.

In petroleum and chemical plant, this type occupies an important position. Usually in the construction of chemical plants, it account for about 10-20% of the total investment; In petroleum refineries, it account for about 35-40% of the total process equipment investment.
