What is a gasketed plate heat exchanger's gasket?
A gasket is a circular ring made of a material that can produce plastic deformation and has a certain strength. It mainly plays a sealing role between the plates of the plate heat exchanger.
Gasket Materials

| Chloroprene rubber | -40~100ºC | Ammonia, mineral roil, lubricant, freon, etc. |
| Fluororubber | 0~180ºC | Inorganic acids, bases, mineral oil, halohydrocarbon and oxidant |
| Silicon rubber | -40~200ºC | Food field, etc. |
Causes of seal gasket failure
Time factor: After the plate heat exchanger is used or left idle for several years, the gasket's own aging will affect its sealability.
Pressure factor: The removable plate heat exchanger produces leaks when it is tried inside the rated working pressure, or there is an abnormal shock load in the system.
Temperature factor: Rapid changes in temperature can also cause gasket failure.
