Tube side and shell side
The tube side refers to the medium flowing through the internal passage of the heat exchange tube and its interpenetrating part. The tube side number N refers to the number of times the medium flows back and forth along the length of the tube. The shell side refers to the passage of the medium flowing through the heat exchange tube and its connected parts. The shell side number N is the number of times the medium travels back and forth along the shell axis in the shell side.
Model of heat exchanger
In order to completely represent the whole picture of the heat exchanger, the type code and specifications of the shell and tube heat exchanger are grouped together and called the "model" and a specific representation method is specified.
This representation method is applicable to horizontal and vertical heat exchangers.
Design parameters
The heat exchanger is different from the general pressure vessel, especially the storage vessel. The process design occupies a dominant position in the heat exchanger design. In addition to ensuring the strength requirements, the mechanical design also needs to achieve the heat transfer and pressure drop requirements in the process calculation.
Process design calculation
Since the 1980s, some domestic design units have begun to directly adopt international advanced heat transfer software for process design, such as:
(1)HTRI (Heat Transfer Research, Inc.)-U.S. heat transfer research company, using a membership system, paying members can get all process design materials and software, and can also participate in conferences and academic exchanges organized by them;
(2) HTFS (Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow Service)-American Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow Service has adopted a more flexible approach, either as a member, or it can purchase its software separately. The software of the above two companies is widely recognized as a bid document.

Mechanical design parameters refer to the parameters used to determine the design, manufacture, and acceptance of heat exchanger construction drawings.

DN ≥ 500mm, rolled cylinder, with the inner diameter of the cylinder (mm) as the nominal diameter of the heat exchanger;
