Held on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar annually, the Dragon Boat Festival is a very significant traditional celebration in China. This year's Dragon Boat Festival falls on June 10.
Though there are several hypotheses on the beginning of this celebration, the most well-known one honors eminent Chinese poet and statesman Qu Yuan.
To commemorate this special occasion, people all over China organize and participate in various activities, such as dragon boat races, eating zongzi (rice dumplings), and hanging moxa leaves on doorways, to name a few. Therefore, we will enjoy a day off on this day so that everyone can have the opportunity to meet and spend quality time with family and friends.
