This year's National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival both fall on October 1, and cities across China are celebrating the festivities with colorful events and lanterns.

On September 24, a giant basket of flowers and fruit was ready in the heart of Beijing's Tiananmen Square, one of China's most iconic landmarks. Themed flowerbeds along Chang'an Avenue are also ready for the upcoming National Day.

More than 200 varieties of flowers have been created in themed flowerbeds along Chang'an Avenue to highlight the historical achievements in the country's development.

Reuniting with friends and relatives is a customary part of the festivities. In addition, many local attractions and special streets were lit up with dazzling lights, creating a splendid night scene.
