Cross Flow Cooling Tower Operation principle
Square cross-flow cooling tower is a cooling device that exchanges heat through vertical cross-flow of air and water.
Water flow distribution
Hot water flows into the water distribution system from the top of the tower by gravity and is evenly distributed to the packing layer.
Air flow
Air enters horizontally from the side of the tower body and cross-contacts with the vertically flowing hot water in the packing (cross-flow design).
Heat exchange
Water forms a water film on the surface of the packing, fully contacts with the air, and reduces the water temperature through evaporative heat dissipation and sensible heat transfer.

Applicable working conditions
Large flow, medium and low temperature cooling requirements
Purpose: Industrial circulating water systems (such as HVAC, chemical, power, food processing).
Reason: The cross-flow design has low water flow resistance, suitable for large flow processing, and has low requirements for water pump head.

Limited space or low noise requirements
Purpose: Urban buildings, hospitals, data centers, etc.
Reason: The square structure is easy to modularize and the noise is lower than the counterflow tower (the fan is located at the top, away from the air inlet).

Poor water quality or easy scaling environment
Purpose: Metallurgy, papermaking and other water quality containing impurities.
Reason: The cross-flow tower packing is easy to disassemble and clean, and the water distribution system is not easy to clog.

Purpose: Occasions where operating costs need to be reduced.
Reason: The fan power is usually lower than the counterflow tower (low air flow resistance), and can be used with variable frequency control.
