How to Judge the Quality of PHE Plates?

Plate heat exchanger has been involved in numerous industries, no matter domsetic or industrial applications. As one of the main components, plates have a big influence on heat transfer's performance. Therefore, judging the quality of plate heat exchanger becomes a very important skill. 


1. Raw material


Tranp’s selection on materials is similar to Alfa Laval and we always choose the high quality stainless steel with sufficient thickness. Although we know the fact that stainless steel is much better than many other alloy materials for its significant advantage of protecting the underlying material from corrosion attack, it’s divided into various levels according to different standards. That’s because as the content of trace elements contained in the internal material is different, the stability and corrosiveness will also change. Thus, the material selection is extremely important.


2. Mould

Apart from the selection of materials, we also can’t ignore the mold. In the manufacturing process of plates, a mold’s accuracy and hardness could determine the support pressure and  quality of plates. There might be a big difference with various molds. In addition, reasonable maintenance is also crucial to prevent from poor craftsmanship, large gaps, or other unqualified plates. For an experienced manufacturer, they know how to select the mold according to different materials, thickness and models. Only in this way can they produce materials that truly meet the standards with high quality and performance.


In a word, we should consider both cost and quality to choose the optimal plates for our requirements. And a qualified piece of plate should contain good cold stamping performance and high corrosion resistance, which is extremely important.
