Advantages& Disadvantages of Open Cooling Towers:
Advantages:
Open cooling towers have the advantages of simple structure, low cost, and easy maintenance and repair. They are the most commonly used equipment in early cooling equipment.
Disadvantages:
Since the fan motor and blades of open cooling towers are exposed to the air, the noise during operation is relatively large; because it is an open system, the cooling tower will produce water drift during operation, causing water loss, and water must be replenished frequently. At the same time, it will also pollute the cooling water to a certain extent, causing its water quality to deteriorate, and external debris will also enter the cooling water, causing water pollution; the cooling water pressure loss of open cooling towers is higher than that of closed cooling towers.

Advantages& Disadvantages of Closed Cooling Towers:
Advantages:
1) Since the closed cooling tower is a fully closed circulation cooling, there is no debris entering the cooling pipe system, which will cause pipe blockage;
2) The closed cooling tower is a soft water circulation cooling, and there is no scale formation at high temperature, which will cause scaling of the cooling pipe system;
3) The closed cooling tower occupies a small area, does not need to dig a pool, is easy to relocate, saves water, and reduces energy consumption;
4) The closed cooling tower adopts a dual cooling method of air cooling, evaporation and heat absorption, with high cooling efficiency;
5) It can directly cool water, oil, alcohol, quenching liquid, salt water and chemical liquid and other media, without loss of media and stable composition;
6) Due to the closed circulation, the medium is not affected by the environment and will not pollute the environment;
7) The pressure loss of cooling water is less than that of an open cooling tower.
Disadvantages:
1) Due to the large number of copper coils with high heat exchange performance but high price, the price of closed cooling towers is generally high;
2) The temperature in northern regions is low in winter. If effective anti-freeze measures are not taken, it may cause partial freezing and cracking of the cooler.
