SPIRAL PLATE HEAT EXCHANGERS


Spiral Plate Heat Exchanger is made by rolling two parallel steel sheets to form a pair of mutually separated flow channels. The hot and cold fluids flow between each other with the spiral plate as the heat transfer surface. Spacer columns are welded between the two plates to maintain the flow channel spacing and also increase the stability of the heat exchanger unit. A central partition is provided in the center of the heat exchanger to separate the two spiral channels. Cover plates or heads and outlet and inlet pipes for the two fluids are welded to the top and bottom respectively.
Advantage of spiral plate heat exchanger is that process liquids are less likely to clog due to the turbulent flow, so it's mostly suitable for situation with solid impurities such as silts, sludges, etc..
