  • Inside the tubes: The process fluid to be cooled circulates within closed coils, completely isolated from the outside air. This ensures the fluid remains clean, without evaporation losses or contamination, and also prevents scaling and freezing.
  • Outside the tubes: Spray water is sprayed onto the outer surface of the coils, cooling the process fluid inside the coils through evaporative heat transfer. This portion of the water is open to the atmosphere.

  • Crossflow zone: Air is drawn horizontally into the tower from the side and flows horizontally across a portion of the coil. This zone has low airflow resistance and low fan power consumption, allowing for high airflow rates.
  • Counterflow zone: The air (after passing through the crossflow zone) continues to flow upwards, creating counterflow heat exchange with the water sprayed downwards from the top and the remaining portion of the coil. This zone has high heat exchange efficiency, resulting in lower outlet water temperatures.
  • Combined effect: The air flows first in crossflow and then in counterflow, cooling the coil in two stages. This combines the airflow advantages of crossflow and the efficiency advantages of counterflow, resulting in excellent performance in terms of energy efficiency and cooling effect for the entire tower.
